If you are planning to install glass partitions, you may find that prices can be very different from one project to another. Why? Let’s take a quick look at the key factors that affect cost.
1. Type and Thickness of Glass
In general, thicker glass means higher cost.
Common thicknesses: 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm
Double glass partitions usually use 5mm or 6mm glass.
Single glass partitions often use 8mm or thicker for safety.
There are also different types of glass:
Clear tempered glass (standard).
Ultra-clear tempered glass (better look, more expensive).
Frosted glass, colored glass, fluted glass, smart glass, laminated glass, fire-rated glass.
Each type has a different look, function, and cost.
2. Frame Material
Most common frames are made of aluminum. It is light and easy to install, but:
Aluminum melts at around 600°C. It is not fire-resistant.
Thicker and heavier aluminum means more cost.
If a project needs better fire protection,we use steel frames:
Steel melts at about 1400°C.
It is much stronger in high temperatures. It is more expensive than aluminum.
3. Other Cost Factors
Besides materials, some other costs include:
Transportation, labor, and customization(special sizes, shapes, colors, etc.)
There is no single “standard price” for partitions. It depends on your needs, materials, and design choices. That’s why even partitions that look similar can have very different prices.
